On Thursday 10th September, Kensington Oval will turn pink to host a day of free health screenings, cricket, community and remembrance.
The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL), the Barbados Tridents and Bat for a Chance (BFAC) are delighted to announce the inaugural Tridents Trust Day, taking place at Kensington Oval on Thursday 10 September during the match between Barbados Tridents and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
Tridents Trust Day builds on CPL's 2026 Health and Wellness programme, rolled out across the region in partnership with Ministries of Health and local NGOs. Fans attending Kensington Oval on the day will have access to free health screenings, reflecting CPL's guiding principle that “prevention is better than cure.”
Funds raised on the day will be split evenly between the Barbados Royals Girls Cricket Club, Bat for a Chance's girls cricket development programme in Barbados supporting young women from underserved communities, and the Barbados Cancer Society, Barbados' leading cancer support and awareness charity.
The day will include a series of activations in support of women's health and women's cricket development on the island, including:
Tridents Trust Day also honours the life of Cheryl Butcher, wife of Roland Butcher, founding member and Vice President of the Barbados Royals Girls Cricket Club, and a valued member of the Barbados Cricket Association staff for over 20 years at Kensington Oval. The Butcher family look forward to celebrating Cheryl's legacy and lifetime of service to cricket and community at the ground she called home.
“Early testing saves lives, plain and simple. Non-communicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension and certain cancers often develop silently, and by the time symptoms appear, options can be limited. Through our platform, CPL wants to encourage every fan in the stands and watching at home to get checked early — a five-minute test today can add years to your life. We are very pleased to lend our support to both the cancer awareness message and to honour the life and impact of Cheryl Butcher.”
