Brief scores: Antigua & Barbuda Falcons 155/5 in 20 overs (Mujeeb Ur Rahman 2/32) beat Barbados Tridents 125/10 in 18 overs (Rivaldo Clarke 27) by 30 runs.
Barbados Tridents were defeated by 30 runs against Antigua & Barbuda Falcons at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Tuesday.
The Falcons' disciplined bowling and Moeen Ali's unbeaten 56 steered them to a strong position, with the Tridents failing to build momentum in their chase.
The Falcons' innings was initially shaky as Daniel Sams bowled Rahkeem Cornwall for a duck in the very first over. However, a critical 39-run partnership between Karima Gore and Amir Jangoo stabilized the early phase.
Despite losing Gore, Jangoo, and Nawaz in the middle overs, Moeen Ali took charge and crafted a match-defining 56 off 37 balls. His innings, supported by Shamar Springer, who remained unbeaten on 19, lifted the Falcons to 155/5.
Barbados Tridents' chase began promisingly with Zachary Carter and Shian Brathwaite putting up 28 runs, but wickets at vital junctures crippled their progress. Alzarri Joseph and Joshua James dismantled the lineup with disciplined spells.
The Tridents' middle order faltered as they lost three wickets in quick succession. Kevlon Anderson and Rivaldo Clarke's notable partnership of 39 runs offered some hope, but once Clarke fell for 27, a collapse ensued.
Joshua James was the standout bowler for the Falcons, claiming three crucial wickets. His dismissals, including the quick blows in the middle and death overs, ensured the Tridents were all out for 125 in 18 overs.
Looking ahead, the Barbados Tridents will face Trinbago Knight Riders at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad on Friday.
