Brief scores: Barbados Tridents 139/2 in 17.5 overs (Quinton de Kock 47) beat Saint Lucia Kings 138/6 in 20 overs (Mujeeb Ur Rahman 3/22) by eight wickets.
Barbados Tridents triumphed over the Saint Lucia Kings by eight wickets at the Kensington Oval on Sunday. The Tridents' chase was spearheaded by Quinton de Kock, whose unbeaten 47 off just 31 balls made all the difference.
Earlier, Mujeeb Ur Rahman's impressive spell saw him claim three crucial wickets, helping to restrict the Kings to a modest total.
The Saint Lucia Kings posted a strong start, scoring 51 runs in the powerplay while losing just one wicket. Kamil Pooran was in fine form, hitting five boundaries and a maximum before being bowled by Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the 7th over.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman continued his spellbinding bowling, taking two more wickets in the death overs. His figures of 3/22 in four overs were key in limiting the Kings to 138/6.
In response, the Tridents balanced aggression with caution, scoring 46 runs in the powerplay but losing Brandon King to Roston Chase in the process. Zachary Carter then joined hands with Rivaldo Clarke to keep the chase on track.
With the partnership between Carter and Clarke broken at 63/2, Quinton de Kock joined Rivaldo Clarke in a vital partnership. The pair forged a 76-run stand that comfortably led the Tridents to victory with 13 balls to spare.
Looking ahead, the Barbados Tridents will face St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Thursday.
